Interview | An interactive Session With Nigerian Gospel Music Minister Hosea Isaac “Fire Burn Burn” Crooner

First of all I will like to especially welcome you to this Platform which is gospeltrendz media interview session,

Your fans and music lovers in Nigeria and all over the world will love to know you sir, can you tell us about your self?

Okay! First of all, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Gospeltrendz family for how much they have supported music ministers such as myself… And ensuring that people have access to the music we put out there… God bless you big time –he continues

Hosea Isaac

Well, my name is Hosea Deziah Isaac, from Kaduna state… I’m Atyap (Kataf) by tribe…but I grew up in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, and I went to University of Lagos (university of first choice lol) were I did my first degree in Mathematics/statistics, I think that’s more than enough introduction.

very well, this is enough to know you indeed, and your followers or listeners and music lovers will get to know you better if they keep following close.

Alright Mr. Hosea Can you tell us how you started your music ministry, What first introduced you into gospel music scene & Who inspired you to make gospel music?

Well, my journey into what I’m doing today happened in two phases…
First I was introduced into music by uncle when I was quite young.. Maybe 5 or 6years old…
But I learnt and practice music as an hubby without giving it any real thought

By the time I entered the University I was certain that I would practice music but there was a struggle whether to do gospel music program not… (although I’ve been in the church choir since I was 10-11years old)

Gradually, God conquered my ambition to become a “super star” and instead to made me into a minister of the gospel… And for me it was about using the musical gift/talent I have been given for the purpose it was given by God.

Second phase: I was first introduced to the music ministry professionally through a friend of mine who was also a course mate “David Nkennor “… He had a worship team and he invited me to play guitar for the group.. So I did, from there I met with other great names in the industry such as Olufunmi, Nathaniel Bassey, Gbolahan, Olumide Iyun, etc…

As for who inspired me to make gospel music… Well for me I drew inspiration from alot of people, my friend David Nkennor, Olufunmi, Mali Music, Deitrik Haddon, Marvin Sapp, Cece Winans. those were my earlier inspirations.

Wow that’s Amazing, wonderful and lovely!

I know you do gospel music but How would you now describe to us the music you typically write or create and
What is the source of your creativity and or inspiration?

mmmm… It’s quite tricky to put to words… For me I’ve been some one that is drawn to abstract creativity….
In terms of genre, I love to play around with a fusion of genres… I have a solid background in Jazz music and then I developed an interest in South American music genres….so in a strict musical sense, my music is a combination of these influences/genres….In terms of the message of my songs/music…my message is for people to draw closer to God so that your real identity can show forth…

Hosea Isaac

The source of my creativity…first and foremost is the Holy Spirit and then secondly over the years I’ve exposed myself to alot of music materials….by the way I can read and write music (sight read)… I own a music school, so I have no choice but to be well informed musically speaking…. I hope I’ve answered well??

Very very well sir, Now I understand music has become a lifestyle and what you do, what then would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for the gospel music ministry?

Well besides music, I’m a man of many other gifts and talents… I intend to pursue those other potentials as time goes on…. Music for me is just the starting point. I love business… I’m a student of “strategy”.

I also I’m into science and technology… (I initially wanted to study aeronautic engineering; I still the passion)…. I have passion for movie production….
So in summary if I wasn’t doing music, there are alot other things…. It’s just that music is the first among the many things I can/could/would do.

Wow, what a man of so many gift, you’re so endowed, so many blessings I can see.

What are challenges you face as gospel music minister act from north that doesn’t appreciate your music ministry??

Hahaha…
The challenges for me are things that are common…. It’s just that for the north especially the north east there’s an issue with value…
We are still behind when it comes to valuing what we have….

So must times music ministers are underrated. But hopefully, the narrative is gradually changing.

Ok, You talked about less value and underrating gospel music ministers in the Northern part of this country, the question here is what are the possible ways or measures you can recommend in other to eradicate or stop such attitudes affecting the gospel music in the north?

First of all my counsel is to the music ministers themselves… “They must place value on their ministry and keep increasing that value”

I’m not talking demanding honorariums for program… I’m talking about developing themselves spiritually, musically, emotionally, mentally and socially …. You must keep growing as a music minister… You can’t be doing the same thing the same way and expect anybody to take you serious…
And secondly they must see themselves as ministers of the gospel the same way preachers of the word see themselves, they must learn ministerial ethics as pastors also learn and practice ministerial ethics…. These are the things that distinguishes our brothers from the southern and western part of the country from us…. And makes them look like they’re very far from us…. They learnt and practice these little things over the ways and it keeps them ahead of us!

The music ministers need to raise their mindset from being local champions to being global champions… It will go a long way…

You start locally but you think globally… We call it the “GloCal” mindset.

It will change the narrative and the way people will receive their ministry as gospel music ministers…

Someone said, You are “addressed” the way you are “dressed”

What and how you present yourself to the people will determine how the respond to you.

Wow, fantastic, I heard you made mention having contact with the likes of Pastor Nathaniel Bassey, Olufunmi e.t.e

So now to ask again which of the Nigerian gospel minister do you wish to bring on stage as in to sing along and if possible to be featured in any of your future release song?

Hehehe… well, at the moment, the mode that I am in right now; I’d like to do something with Dunsin Onyeka.

Wow, you are amazing! and now What do the followers anticipate from now on?

Any new music for your fans & what would you like to tell your fans??

O yes! Something huge, massive and hot…. We just did a live recording of some new songs last Sunday (3rd July) and the process of post production just began… God willing the final product will be released in. September for consumption… And to my family out there, ( I don’t call you fans but family OK?) there’s something inside of you that your world is waiting for….

Hosea Isaac

You might be going thru certain issues that are mounting pressure on you, don’t break under the pressure instead turn that pressure to a precious Gem… Remember that the Precious stones that are mined from under the ground where ordinary rocks that endured pressure over the years. Those stones/rocks transformed into the diamonds, jasper, etc that everyone treasures….
Let the pressure refine you and bring out the best out of you… That’s how you gradually become someone that others will celebrate. I love you! 🥰

Awesome, So this is a good news, something is cooking….

Mr. Hosea I must say it has been a great interaction session here with you, hope to hear from you some other time in the near future. Shalom! Thank you for your time sir.

I’m truly honored… Thank you so much for having me. We trust God greater things ahead.

Amen and Amen!

You can as well get some of his hit songs Halle Oh & Fire Burn Burn
